Bleach, the new feature film by director Kaltrina Krasniqi, produced by Vera Films, has entered production in Prishtina. The project reunites key collaborators from her debut feature Vera Dreams of the Sea, which premiered in the Orizzonti competition at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, while introducing new contributors across the lead roles, artistic departments, and production team.
The film stars Adriana Matoshi and Arta Dobroshi with Kosovare Krasniqi, Agron Shala, Aurita Agushi, Art Pasha, Blerta Ismaili, Alketa Sylaj dhe Lola Sylaj in supporting roles.
Set in contemporary Prishtina, Bleach is a drama that follows two women whose lives intertwine through work. Fatime comes from the outskirts of the city and works as a cleaner, while Elvira runs a marketing company in the urban centre. The film observes what grows between them and what cannot survive, as the city around them is demolished and rebuilt.
Bleach uses bleaching as a socio-cultural, architectural, and developmental language. Spaces, bodies, and histories are cleaned, sanitised, and erased in the name of new social aspirations.
Bleach is written by Doruntina Basha and produced by Ares Shporta. The film is produced with the support of the Kosovo Cinematography Center, National Film Commission of Bulgaria, Albanian National Cinematography Center, Montenegrin Film Center, IFFR Hubert Bals Fund+Europe, and Visions Sud Est. The film is produced by Vera Films (Kosovo) in co-production with Portokal (Bulgaria), Papadhimitri Productions (Albania), and Code Blue Production (Montenegro).
Production of Bleach in Kosovo has been supported by a number of partners including Radix, Courtyard by Marriott Prishtina, Four Points by Sheraton Prishtina, Rodon Tech, Dukagjini Group, Meridian Kitchen, Novaza, TOK/DGTL, Korporata Rugovë, Rezonanca, Noya, and Kino Armata.
