Thirst is an intimate take on Hida Halimi, a writer who sought refuge in literature during the Milošević regime—Kosovo’s grimmest period in contemporary history. Without meaning to, she became the first woman in the country to write a novel and a quiet symbol of perseverance for the children around her. The film centers on both the tangible and intangible remains of her presence, revisiting the 1990s in Kosovo through rare archival materials from a decade where little was documented.
